In 2014, following the birth of my daughter, I set out with the idea of modernising the traditional Chinese cheongsam with comfortable, beautiful fabrics for little people. Having grown up in both Hong Kong and the UK, I wanted to combine the fashion and elegance from both cultures. To compliment these dresses, and at the request of my son who was born in 2016, I designed the Kung Fu shirt. Subsequently, many girls (including my daughter) have asked if their mummies can wear matching cheongsams, and so the latest ladies collection was created in 2021!
We are named Little Valley to remember Happy Valley in Hong Kong; a wonderful neighbourhood where my mother had me and I spent most of my childhood, and then where my husband and I had our first home. A unique, fun and friendly place with a special place in my heart. Just how I want my designs to make people feel.
THE MAKING OF
Each Little Valley piece is tailored individually by our experienced seamstresses in China. Our knotted buttons are delicately handmade, and the piping is meticulously sewn onto the dresses and shirts. Fabrics are carefully sourced for comfort and style.
In contrast to the traditional tight figure-hugging cheongsam, we have updated the style to make it looser and fresher for young girls. There are also cheongsam tops and matching skirts for ladies for those who wish to opt for a more casual look and match with their girls.
We design our clothes to be special, to last and to be handed down as a memory of Hong Kong culture to the next generation.
